Attendance
Every session of a course must be attended. Students who miss any part of a class may automatically forfeit their participation in the rest of the course.
Students may be dismissed from class if blended learning requirements are incomplete.
Refund Policy
By registering for a SELA class, you guarantee that the information provided in your registration is accurate to the best of your knowledge. No refunds will be offered after 24 hours have passed from the time of registration. If needed, we can attempt to transfer you to a different set of course dates but cannot guarantee that we can transfer your registration to another class due to facility size and other factors. Fees may apply for course transfers.

Lifeguard Swimming Prerequisites
The American Red Cross sets the swimming prerequisites for the lifeguard course. You will demonstrate these requirements at the beginning of class.

Complete a swim and tread sequence consisting of the following three actions:

jump into the water from the side, totally submerge, recover to the surface and swim using either front crawl (AKA freestyle) or breaststroke for 150 yards;

after swimming 150 yards, maintain position at the surface of the water without support for 2 minutes by treading; and

after maintaining position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards using either front crawl or breaststroke.

Retrieve a 10-pound dive brick from a depth of 7 feet and carry it 20 yards while swimming.

Students must swim 20 yards before diving to the bottom of the pool to retrieve the 10-pound brick. Students must then swim 20 yards to the pool edge, while supporting the brick in both hands. Students must retrieve the brick and exit the pool without using a ladder or the steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
